Exploring all corners

Today did not involve a National Park, but instead was a mish-mash of classic Page, AZ activities. And it was so much fun!



We started the morning with a rarity - sleeping in! We did not have to leave our house today until 8:30. Ah-mazing! So we celebrated with pancakes and sausage/bacon plus board games on the back deck :)


We next headed over to a highly-instagrammed place: Antelope Canyon! From the moment I saw a picture of this place a while back, I knew it was special. And goodness it was! The pictures of this place just come out other-worldly. And something I wasn't expecting - a lot of fun climbing/bending around the slot canyon that the kids enjoyed! The only bummer was how crowded it was :/ We were there on a weekend day (Sunday). Perhaps weekdays are less crowded. But if you are thinking of coming here, definitely prepare to be waiting in lines inside the canyon, a lot. But if you can get past that, the views plus neat information from the Navajo guide will be spectacular! The guides are also camera-experts and will give you lots of information on how to use your phones, etc., to capture the best pictures. They also are willing to snap lots of family photos for you!



















Our afternoon activity of the day was spending time on Lake Powell - on a jetski of course!!! The best deal is to get one from town and tow it to the lake yourself (vs spending twice as much to rent one at the marina). It was a bit more hassle, but worth the money saved in my opinion.

Brie had never been on a jetski before, but she was excited about it. Until.....she was on it and saw how fast it went! LOL opps :) Lots of bumps and she cried at one point in the beginning. Aaron going 20mph was "too fast" for her. But, like everything else on this trip it seems, she LOVED it by the end of the day and was begging Aaron to go faster and go over more bumps! haha. That child.

We used our jetski to explore canyons in Lake Powell, which were so gorgeous! I also calmed down finally, about 20 minutes in, about fearing a run-in with another watercraft. ha, always worrying about something! And I even got in a few laughs :)






For lunch, we found our own little private beach :) Brie enjoyed making sandcastles while Aaron took the jetski out for a faster spin than he got riding with us, haha.

The rest of the day was just gorgeous. We laughed a lot!

After all the excitement, we got to come back to our wonderful rental home overlooking the lake an enjoy a delicious lasagna meal with fresh cooked vegetables on the deck. And the girls did face masks :)

Pushing to the limit

Part of this trip, I wanted us to try new things. New things we had never done before (on top of visiting new places we had never seen before!) We have indoor rock climbed a bit here and there, so when I saw that Moab and Zion are known for outdoor rock climbing too, I knew I wanted to try it. We had too much planned for Moab to squeeze it in, so I scheduled it for Zion. When I called to schedule, the lady recommended a "combo" tour - rock climbing and  canyoneering because we would have Brie. Kids normally enjoy canyoneering more :) So I booked it! *side note - when we went rock climbing back home in Tyrone a couple of months ago, the girl who worked there had also just been to Zion for rock climbing! She said it was amazing. The only bad thing? The best rock climbing and canyoneering for a half day was on the other  side of Zion from where we were staying. Meaning, the meet-up spot with our guide was one hour away, and then the spot to climb was another 20 minutes...

ZION all day!

Let me preface this by saying yes, I know I skipped a day blogging yesterday. But we were SO tired about our resort was a less than appealing place to set-up shop to blog from :) Today I have to tell you ALL about Zion National Park though, because, well, WOW! It's stunning. (there we are, little people on a bridge!) I will preface this by saying that the pictures absolutely will not do this park justice. It is just astoundingly majestic. The cliffs are towering and the foilage so green, plus the Virgin River. Ya'll, it's gorgeous. Also, let me just stop for a second and show you my current view, from our new digs in Page, AZ, which is also doubly inspiring: We will be here three nights, and I am sure I will have a lot more to update you on tomorrow and the next night! But back to Zion.... We started the day at 5:30am! Woohoo! ha, NOT. It was literally 40 degrees outside, and around 50 degrees in our canvas-covered wagon. Yea, brrrr. Thankf...
